Don't Miss the Progress That Isn't Showing Up on the Scale

Good morning & happy Friday!

 We're officially settling into September.

The mornings are getting a little cooler, the days are getting shorter, and routines are beginning to feel a little more normal again.

So I thought this would be a perfect week to talk about something I see all the time.

We can become so focused on where we're trying to go that we completely miss how much has already changed.

Especially when it comes to health.

We tend to look for the obvious milestones.

The number on the scale. The clothing size. The lab result. The before-and-after picture. Those things can absolutely be worth celebrating.

But they're only part of the story.

Progress can be quiet

Sometimes progress looks like realizing you didn't think about food all afternoon.

Sometimes it's waking up before your alarm feeling rested.

It's having more energy at 3 PM.

It's walking farther without getting tired.

It's craving foods that actually make you feel good.

It's leaving food on your plate because you're satisfied.

It's going out for dinner and realizing you don't need to "start over" tomorrow.

It's handling a stressful week differently than you would have six months ago.

It's looking in the mirror and speaking to yourself with a little more kindness.

Not every victory can be measured on a scale.

🍂 Look back before you look forward

September naturally makes us think about what comes next.

But before you set another goal, I want you to look backward for a moment.

Think about yourself three months ago.

Six months ago.

Maybe even a year ago.

What is easier now that used to feel difficult?

What do you understand about your body now that you didn't understand before?

What habit has become almost automatic?

What choice are you making differently?

What are you proud of?

Sometimes we need to stop moving the finish line long enough to recognize that we've already crossed several of them.

💚 The goal is more than weight loss

Yes, weight can be an important health marker.

But ultimately, we're building something much bigger.

We're building a body that feels supported.

A metabolism that functions well.

Energy to enjoy our lives.

Strength as we age.

A healthier relationship with food.

Confidence in our choices.

And habits we can maintain long after any particular goal has been reached.

That is real progress.
